The Board is responsible for setting policies, the budget, long range plans, and the operating procedures of the Orchestra, and for hiring the artistic and administrative personnel. The Board members, elected for two year terms, represent two constituencies: parents and community members-at-large. One additional member is elected by the Orchestra as a youth member. Committees, under the direction of the Board, are responsible for carrying out much of the ongoing work of the Orchestra. All parents of members are strongly encouraged to join at least one committee to lend support for routine and special projects. A listing of the committees and their responsibilities is available from the Board. Advisory Committee An Advisory Committee of area music educators and performers is appointed by the Board to make recommendations to the Board of Directors on matters pertaining to the activities of the Orchestra.
