Loveland Concert Band Scholarship Fund

The Loveland Concert Band Annual Scholarship is officially known as "The Findling-Gleichmann-Smith Memorial Scholarship". It honors three men who were members of the Loveland Concert Band.

Byron Findling was a local lawyer who played clarinet.
Bill Gleichmann moved to Loveland in the '80's and brought with him a wealth of experience and talent in musical composition and conducting.
Lyle Smith was a teacher and administrator for the Thompson R2J school district. He played French Horn.
These men were staunch supporters of instrumental music in the community and gave much of their time to see that the Loveland Concert Band succeeded.

The scholarship gives a one-time award each year (currently $350) to the John Philip Sousa Band Award winner at each of the four Thompson R2J high schools. Primary support for the scholarship is obtained by an annual raffle (state licensed) held at our February concert.

Tickets ($2 each, 6 for $10, 13 for $20) are available from band members and at our concerts.

Raffle prizes are donated by local businesses and by individuals.

The scholarships are normally presented at school award ceremonies in May. And, we make a public presentation to each of the recipients in person at one of our summer concerts in June.

Note: If you have an article to donate for the raffle or need more information on the scholarship, please call Ken Anderson at 970 669-6879.
