Performances

DanceVision is pleased to announce it will be performing in Steamboat Springs for the Steamboat Springs dance theatre's 28th annual dance concert. The concert dates are February 16th and 17th. Tickets can be purchased at "Off the Beaten Path", Steamboats local bookstore, or by calling the Steamboat Springs Arts council at (970) 879-9008.

In this particular dance concert DanceVision will be introducting a new work from their ballet entitled, "AWAKENING".

The music we are using in the Streamboat performance is Claude Debussey, Clair de lune.

The number centers around two young humans who are coming of age. Their individual personalities and life's direction serve as the foundation for their movement, but it is their need for companionship, romance and love that awaken the passion and verousity for life, liberty and truth.

Carole Krohn, DanceVision's newest choreographer and dancer served as the catalyst for this number. Her vision and strength set the tone for many of lifts, and much of the partnering performed in this number. In dance, as it is, in life, we must remember how dynamic and strong our partners are. Women and men alike move and work, forming the fiber of our society. Not only, can we not have one with out the other, we need the compassion, understanding and work of both sexes to thrive. In the words of our Creater, we see this truth proclaimed in Ecclesiastes, chapter 4 verses 9 through 12.

"Two are better than one
Because they have a good return for their
work:
If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the human who falls
and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep
warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly
broken.

Thus in the new work that will be seen in Steamboat and the surrounding area, DanceVision will begin its year long exploration into the foundations of partnerships and unity, that "AWAKEN" not only our passions, but also the healthy returns we can have through our colaborations, be it work, family, friends, or planning.
