History of Citizen Planners
Our grass-roots organization was formed in January of 1989, by
concerned residents of Fort Collins and Larimer county who believe local government works
best when its citizens are involved in meaningful decision-making.
Citizen Planners Believes:
Growth in our region needs to be addressed in terms of
both present and future impacts on our community and our quality of life.
- Broad public participation and support are an integral
part of planning for our future.
- We protect our future when we protect our natural
resources and our environment.
- Development must be based on sustainable local
economics, a fair wage, clean industry, and progressive corporate values.
- Support, technical information, and opportunities for
citizens to communicate their concerns.
- A library of document services, available to
neighborhood and service organizations, and interested citizens.
Citizen Planners
Serves As a Vehicle For Citizens To:
- Explore mutual problems and seek solutions.
- Pool resources in addressing mutually identified
needs.
- Local Elections
- Growth
- Transportation
- Economic Development
- Land Use
- Quality of Life
- Environmental Planning
- Work committees represent the nuts and bolts of our organization. Topics include
growth, land use and environmental planning, transportation, newsletter, membership, and
publicity.
We also publish a newsletter to keep members informed on community
issues, meetings and the work of our organization. Our speakers are available to
neighborhood and service organizations, as well as interested citizens. We also maintain a
small library of document and source materials that are available upon request..
