Programming for our 23rd Season
Season Opener: Words and Music
September 16, 2007 • Sunday at 7 p.m.
For our new season’s first concert we present a
rare performance of Façade, William Walton’s
youthful words-and-music cycle. These witty and
fantastical settings of poems by Edith Sitwell, first
performed in London in 1922, feature a jazz
ensemble joined by Karen Lauer Anderson and
John Lueck. In addition, special guests Jim
Heaton and the Mark Sloniker Jazz Trio return
with their own unique words-and-music show.
Music of J. S. Bach
November 11, 2007 • Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Front Range Chamber Players are joined
by guest artists for an evening of works by the
German Baroque master, including the First
Orchestral Suite, the Partita for Solo Flute, the
Cantata Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen, and selections from Bach’s unfinished masterpiece Art of
The Fugue.
An Evening With
The Boulder Piano Quartet
March 2, 2008 • Sunday at 7 p.m.
The celebrated Boulder Chamber Ensemble
returns to Fort Collins for a guest appearance on
our series. Gabriel Fauré’s G minor Piano Quartet
is featured on an evening of French music for
piano and strings.
Beethoven and Brahms With
The Appassionato Quartet
April 6, 2008 • Sunday at 7 p.m.
Fort Collins’ own Appassionato String Quartet
and friends present Beethoven’s last quartet, the F
Major Op. 135, along with the Brahms Sextet No.
2 for Strings in G major.
Season Finale:
American Chamber Ballet
May 18, 2008 • Sunday at 7 p.m.
In the first production of its kind for the Front
Range Chamber Players, we accompany the noted
local choreographer Ixchel Whitcher and friends
for a rare performance of the 1917 Charles Tomlinson Griffes dance-drama The Kairn of
Koridwen, a haunting and mystical story of forbidden
love, based on a Druid legend.
