Field Trip Report

Larimer County Lakes

Eight participants visited nine lakes north of Fort Collins: Long Pond, Annex #8, Windsor, Elder, Douglas, N. Poudre #3, Smith, Wellington #4, and Bee. We started the day with warm, clear conditions, but by mid-morning the wind was blowing >15 mph. We tallied 40 species; highlights included a Common Loon and at least six Sandhill Cranes at N Poudre Res. #3, and a Herring and Bonaparte's Gull at Elder Res.
